AUSMECTIN® SHEEP DRENCH contains ivermectin, a member of the macrocyclic lactone class of chemicals, which has a unique mode of action. It acts selectively in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells resulting in paralysis and death of the parasite. Therefore, AUSMECTIN® SHEEP DRENCH has been used for the control and treatment of ivermectin-sensitive gastrointestinal roundworms in sheep, including benzimidazole, levamisole and morantel resistant strains of Haemonchus contortus, Ostertagia circumcincta and Trichostrongylus colubriformis. It is also effective against lungworm (Dictyocaulus filaria), itchmite (Psorergates ovis) and all parasitic larval stages of nasal bot (Oestrus ovis) in sheep. Ivermectin has a long intrinsic half-life, which provides excellent residual protection against parasitic reinfestation for a varying period depending on the target parasite.
- Berg Oil
A traditional remedy reported to control excessive fermentation and decrease gastrointestinal discomfort in horses, cattle and sheep.
Pack Sizes:250 mL500 mL1 L
BERG OIL™ is a combination of wood tars, turpentine oils and methylated spirits that has been used for many years and have been reported to decrease gas production associated with fermentation. Taken orally, BERG OIL does not irritate the mucous membranes of the mouth and the digestive tract. The actives in BERG OIL are reported to be calmative and may assist in relieving gastric discomfort. They may also help counteract the griping action of purgatives. Methylated spirits reduces the frequency of sudden muscle spasm, background spasticity with associated colic pain and functional disability caused by the excess gastrointestinal fermentation.
- Buffered Iodine - Farnam
A safe and effective topical spray suitable for general antiseptic purposes on the skin of most animals. It can be used to control topical infection of the skin, keeping wounds dry and covered with a protective residue film of iodine to provide prolonged activity. BUFFERED IODINE SPRAY may be used in numerous surgical procedures and as a topical agent for various dermal and mucosal infections such as wounds, cuts, abrasions, burns, ringworm, navel disinfection in newly born animals, castration and docking wounds, udder wounds and cut teats.

- Flints Medicated Oil
Prevents the formation of excess granulation tissue or 'proud flesh', especially on the lower limbs of horses. FLINT'S MEDICATED OIL repels flies from the wound site, enabling the wound to heal naturally without any further irritation, as well as helping to ensure a minimal risk of surface infection whilst providing a protective film to the healing wound.
- Glutacide - Keymix
Effective against a wide range of common contaminant organisms that are harboured in animal environment and housing. The control of these organisms reduces the hazard of disease and creates a clean, odour free environment. GLUTACIDE has a rapid action and remains active for several days on treated surfaces. All animal and bird housing systems may be safety and effectively cleaned and disinfected using GLUTACIDE. The product is not formulated or intended for use directly on animals or birds, however, but is suitable for all animal contact areas.

Bacteria can enter the body by one or more of several routes. These include ingestion, inhalation, via the reproductive tract, for example at coitus or artificial insemination, from the mother to the offspring, or via skin penetration, for example due to biting insects.
Different disease-causing bacteria affect different parts of the body and this can correlate with the route of entry. For example, Pasteurella Spp, that cause pneumonia, are often inhaled, whereas Salmonella Spp. are ingested.
Let me share with you a human example to explain this concept in relation to non-immune defence mechanisms. Some years ago there was an outbreak of salmonellosis food poisoning caused by Salmonella napoli in soft, continental chocolate. The levels of S. napoli in the chocolate were such that anyone eating it would surely die of chocolate poisoning before they ever succumbed to S. napoli food poisoning!
However, on further investigation, it was found that the S. napoli were being encapsulated in very small fat globules and these protected the S. napoli from acids in the upper digestive tract. When these globules reached the small intestine they were attacked by lipases and the salmonella organisms were then released. That is, 100% of the salmonella were avoiding the effects of the stomach acid which normally killed off a large percentage of the organisms – an effect which had not been taken into account when determining the original infective dose!
Optimum bacterial growth temperature All bacteria have an optimum growth temperature, which is the temperature at which they grow and multiply the fastest. Most disease-causing (pathogenic) bacteria have evolved so that this temperature is very close to the animal’s body temperature, thereby optimising their efficiency at causing disease, so be sure to keep your animals healthy and happy!
