Clash of the Titans - Able Friend Vs Solow

For those of you who do not know, I bought the mother of Able Friend 2 years ago, and in that time he has developed into the equal highest racehorse in the world. He is an Australia-bred horse that currently races in Hong Kong and will be having his first start in England against Solow who is currently the 3rd highest rated horse in the world, on 16th June at Royal Ascot in the Queen Anne Stakes over 1600 meters

Hong Kong superstar Able Friend is in for a real fight at Royal Ascot on June 16 with French hope Solow the current favourite with bookmakers.

UK-based Paddy Power have installed Freddy Head’s five-year-old Singspiel gelding as the $2.50 popular elect, with Able Friend quoted at $3 ahead of the 1600-metre weight-for-age Group I Queen Anne Stakes.

International betting giant Bet365 also have Solow marked on top, betting $2.75 about the grey gelding and $3.25 about Able Friend.

Solow scored his second consecutive Group I last Sunday, winning at Longchamp to make it six victories in a row.

Able Friend has four Group I wins to his name, and has been undefeated at his past six starts.

The John Moore-trained five-year-old rounded out his Ascot preparation with a 1600-metre trial at Sha Tin on Tuesday morning with regular hoop Joao Moreira aboard.

"Joao said he’s 85-90% there now and with two weeks up our sleeves it’s just right on schedule with how I’ve trained him for his previous big races,” Moore told the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

"He’s at the end of his prep so when we get to England it’ll just be a case of fine-tuning him.”

The Australian-bred son of Shamardal flies out to the UK on Saturday.
